Almost 100,000 people went through the Melaka International Trade Centre in Ayer Keroh over 4 to 6 September. That is the figure Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh gave at the closing of Karnival Anak Muda Negeri Melaka 2026, stacked this year with Konsert Jom Heboh. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi closed the carnival at Zone B on Sunday afternoon.
How the three days actually filled up
The first day, Friday 4 September, was the slow one: about 7,000 people. Saturday jumped to nearly 50,000, according to Ab Rauf speaking that night at the official opening of the carnival plus Jom Heboh concert. By Sunday afternoon he was talking about another 15,000 on the grounds, many of them from the motorcycle community that this edition finally opened to every bike, not just RXZ models.
Those numbers sit on top of the preview we published last month. The giveaways were real. Japerun, the Melaka Youth Development Department, had 20,000 carnival t-shirts and a lucky draw for 2,000 helmets, with draws every two hours. Malaysia Gazette reported a separate RM300,000 payout for 3,000 p-hailing riders at the opening, plus talk of rider pitstops and discounted workshops. That is state welfare dressed as a carnival, and it is why the lawn filled with delivery jackets as much as concert fans.

Media Prima brought Jom Heboh back to Melaka for the first time as a joint headline with the state youth carnival. Concert nights ran 5 and 6 September from 9pm at Zone A, Dataran MITC. Ab Rauf used the same speech to thank TV3 and to argue the carnival was putting money into small traders around Ayer Keroh, not only filling a hall.
If you missed the concerts, you missed the loud half. The quieter half was the weekday-style programming that ran in daylight: e-sports, an AI showcase, Army Warrior Challenge, Muay Thai, TVET and career booths, a youth town hall, a pre-marriage course, Pound to Fit, and a digital creator zone. That mix is why families showed up on Saturday with children who had no interest in a 9pm set.
Ayer Keroh is still worth the Grab after the tents come down
MITC sits on Lebuh Ayer Keroh, the same cluster as Zoo Melaka. The carnival is over as of Sunday 6 September. If you are in town this week for Malaysia Day on Wednesday 16 September, Ayer Keroh is quieter again. The zoo is the reliable half-day. The river festival still has its beach close at Tanjung Bidara on 18 to 20 September if you want a coastal day instead of another mall loop.
One local note: Ayer Keroh traffic backs up when a state event dumps 50,000 people onto MITC. That is done. Parking at the trade centre is usable again. From Melaka Sentral, Grab is 15 to 20 minutes. Do not expect a metro. There is not one.
