Dataran Belanda / Stadthuys (荷兰红屋)

Dataran Belanda is the postcard of Bandar Hilir. The Stadthuys (荷兰红屋) was finished in 1650 as the Dutch governor’s house. Gereja Christ sits on the same square. Trishaws wait for photos. The red paint is a 1980s restoration, not 17th-century original. The square is free to walk. The History and Ethnography Museum inside the Stadthuys is a PERZIM site. Hours: Tuesday–Sunday 09:00–17:30, last entry 16:30, closed Monday. Combo with the other Bandar Hilir PERZIM museums: Malaysian adult RM10, foreigner RM20, child RM5 / RM10. TourismMelaka sometimes prints a Friday lunch break and a RM12 door price. Trust perzim.gov.my/harga-tiket/. Heat after 11:00 is ugly. Climb Bukit St. Paul and Porta de Santiago from here. This is an attraction, not a mall.
