About Cheng Hoon Teng 青云亭

Cheng Hoon Teng (青云亭) is the Chinese temple Melaka still uses. Founded in the 17th century on Jalan Tokong, it sat as kapitan court as well as a temple. Masjid Kampung Kling and Sri Poyatha Veerakaliamman share the same short street, which is why people call it Harmony Street. Address: 25 Jalan Tokong, 75200 Melaka. Tel +60 6-282 9343, info@chenghoonteng.org.my. Grounds are usually open in daylight, about 07:00-19:00; the official site does not print a timetable, so treat that as typical, not a posted rule. Chinese New Year Eve often runs overnight. Dress for a working temple. This is an attraction, not a street and not a mall. Pair it with Jonker by day, then the night market after 18:00 on Friday-Sunday.
